	Michael Blomsterberg, author of Hairapy: Deeper than the Roots, has been a professional hairapist for 22 years and has received “Master Certified Life Coach” designation from Coach For Life, an International Coaching Federation (ICF) approved program. As a child he survived physical and psychological abuse. As an adolescent he survived bulimarexia, drug and alcohol addiction, and bankruptcy. As an adult he survived testicular cancer and the dissolution of a 12-year relationship.

His mission is the synergy of his life experience and professional training: to harness his understandings to contribute to the lives of others. He lives with his partner, Rhett, in Southern California.

Hairapy: Deeper than the Roots emphasizes a process of discovery, acceptance, appreciation, and most importantly, feeling. With access to all of our feelings we have choice, mobility, and a context in which achievement happens naturally.

What is Hairapy?

“The salon chair has turned into the couch, but my practice of hairapy remains the same: to appreciate and love my clients for the magnificent beings they truly are, and to provide a safe space for them to make the subtle, simple changes that transform life from the automatic to the authentic.

Many of us define ourselves by our accomplishments, our results, our physicality, our outcomes. We (unconsciously) run as fast as we can. We run from feelings that threaten to overwhelm us at our core. Stillness seems unfathomable.

In today’s world of doing, I find being to be undervalued. Yes, I am proud of my accomplishments, but I am more fulfilled by who I am. We are all perfect, beautiful, and whole exactly as we are; and this is the core of my philosophy.

Do you feel like you live your life to please others? Do you wonder if anything you do will ever be enough? What if you possessed the key to your happiness, freedom, fulfillment, wholeness, safety? What if everything was happening for you, not to you? What will it be like/feel like to be able to trust yourself, your instincts, your intuition, your inner voice? On a Personal Note:
In the fall of 1999, I found myself at the oncology ward at Cedars Sanai Hospital in Los Angeles undergoing treatment after a radical orchiectomy that I had had five weeks earlier. On October 1, 1999, I was diagnosed with testicular cancer.

It was on this day that God gave me a new pair of glasses from which to see. I found myself up many a night, green with nausea and unable to sleep due to the severity of my treatments. Yet it was through this trial that I experienced peace, clarity, and my life’s purpose. Everything aligned at once.

In my stillness, I could hear my guidance. I was to write a book that extracted the lessons from all of my life’s experiences, and then I was to sprinkle a bit of my life’s stories into the mix so that people could feel heard, seen, and gotten.

My vision took me nearly five years to complete because I needed to be an open vessel through which God could speak. Therefore, the book dictated the pace.

My book is amazing and I am honored to have the opportunity to share it with the rest of the world. I am absolutely relishing each and every moment and am thrilled with the open hearts from which it is being received.

Hairapy: Deeper than the Roots is about self-acceptance and self-appreciation at the deepest level, and falls into the category of Spiritual/Self-Help/Inspirational. Can you envision a world in which people champion and celebrate themselves as their own number one fan? I can, and I am. Putting people back on their own team is the most magnificent privilege in the world.
